# 10 signs # 5 signs

5 weight loss mistakes we make.

Hi there,
How has your week been? Hope you haven't forgotten our squat challenge. Keep up the energy!! We begin week 6  of the weight loss challenge tomorrow!!!!!
Have you been trying to lose weight and still nothing. The scale ain't moving and the tight skirt ain't budging? Here are 5 of some very common mistakes we make;

  1. Eating excess fruits; Fruits help in weight loss but most of them also contain high levels of natural sugars. Yes, even with fruits, portion control applies.
  2. Not drinking enough water;Water helps in hydrating the body and breaking down of food. When you get dehydrated, your metabolism slows down, the body begins storing fat to save your life. Lol.
  3. Eating little or no breakfast/Eating your heaviest meal at night; Think of an upside down triangle, that's what your daily meals should look like. Your lightest meal should be at night. And don't skip breakfast.
  4. Worrying too much about the scale; I know this feeling. Lol. I am busy worrying about the scale when actually my clothes are getting loose. I recommend using both (scale and smaller clothes) to monitor your weight loss.
  5. Working out on an empty stomach; Lol! If you eat something like a fruit before workout, you are bound to workout longer and burn more calories.
  6. Not sleeping; Stress is a major weight loss saboteur lol. I know stress in a place like Naija is inevitable but try and rest when you can, go to bed early if you can. Little by little the body will correct itself.

Are you guilty of any of the above? I am guilty of number 3 and 5. Sometimes i skip breakfast when i need to dash out of the house. I try to make up for it later in the day. I am already used to working out on an empty stomach, i don't like the wobbly feeling of food when exercising. I take a cup of coffee if i feel really empty. Please share, what mistakes have you made and learnt from? God bless.
Cheliz.

  1. Weightloss weightloss weightloss! Ordiegwu for ds topic oh... Just viewed d red carpet photos from d NEA awards held in new York... 75% of Nigerians had a bulging tummy and some excess fat lurking somewhere. Our staple food here ehn *sigh*... With weightloss I think d most important thing is consistency...which is really difficult... Having to say forward ever and backward never. This is d first time in my life where I hv consistently dropped kgs in a month. I pray to continue till I reach my goal. If not for Cheliz, I wudnt hv known I cud actually do ds. Btw,I must commend ur consistency in blogging ds week :D sometimes dts all d motivation we need. Again I wonder where some of d other contestants are and why they don't get to share their experiences..let's.also.learn and be encouraged . *Sochima* Loool... Amanda

  3. Good evening Ladies, Amanda I must say I am really proud of you. I remember those days in June that you were complaining about the 78kg thing. I don't even know how my week has been sef, I have managed to do 300squats ever since **face covered. I also indulged in the sin of taking cowbell 3in1 coffee (all in the name of taking coffee o), which left me bloated each day I take it, by the time I realized my scale wasn't smiling. I am not spoiling the brand or product o, but the truth is that Cheliz has told us severally that full cream milk will always make one bloated and in the past few months I have abstained from full cream milk. I have learnt my lessons, so I switched to nescafe classic with 1spoon of skimmed milk and it really makes me feel great. One needs a lot of discipline in this journey and learn that you cannot do things the old way anymore. Sweet mouth no go kill person. Lol May God help us. MissB

  6. Thanks Tess.... LOL @ The Lord is your muscle.. As for worrying about what to wear the next day- I usually plan my week ahead on Sunday and I choose all the clothes I will be wearing for the week. Sometimes I get 6 outfits ready for the week incase I change my mind on any of them. I think you can try that method too and see how it works for you. Because I remember how frustrating it used to be for me, sometimes I wake up and I could try 3-4 clothes on and yet I wont still feel comfortable in any of them. At the end of the day, I get to work late, tired and stressed out and not happy with what I am wearing.. Have a lovely weekend ahead. TGIF MISSB

  7. I'm guilty of no 1, 3, 4, 5, 6. I sleep late, hate breakfast, eat too much fruit, since I wake up late, can't eat before exercise, and of course my battle with the scale that almost derailed me in this challenge. But I'm working on it all. My worst mistake was the fruits. I used to make my own fruit juices and add vegetables, so I thought it was healthy. During one of my check ups, my doctor advised me to watch my sugar, and reminded me, instead of drinking fruits just to chew it and watch my portions, because it adds up.

    1. Hahahaha! Many people are guilty of the fruits thing. Its a pity, thank God we discovered on time right? Lol. When we juice fruits, they release their sugars and we don't get to digest the fiber that comes with the other parts(pulp, back,skin, seeds), that's why its always better to chew. cheers.
