How to Resist the Food Temptations (Part 2)

Hi hi Sweeties,
Hmmm, one major issue with weight loss is food. Overcoming the love for bad food. When it comes to food eh, the temptation no be here o! One really needs the grace of God to over come.  I have posted something on food temptations in the past, you can read up here


You know one sad thing? Its the worst foods that are the most delicious. Hahahaha! Imagine having Burger and fries with a glass of chilled coke for lunch...Choi!! or watching a movie with a big bag of potato chips and drinking a bottle of orobo pepsi. Lmao! (i miss doritos) Let me stop, i remember some people are dieting lol!.

A friend of mine was complaining 2 days ago about how temptations were coming to her. The discussion was so funny. First of all she said the temptation was a 'demon' Lmao!  That the 'demon' was making her tummy big. She said "How else would you explain craving ice cream and biscuits when you just finished eating?"  "Its the work of the devil" I laff wan break waist! "Its trying to make us eat more than we need" she said. 'Then our body turns into fat, we lose shape and low self esteem comes in. It can only be traced to the devil"  Then she continued, and said "It even came in form of one guy trying to toast me....telling me lets go for ice cream and cake, i said no, i'll have coconut water" Hahahahahaha! Chaii, such a funny babe. But i admire her so much because she has kept her game face on, nothing will move her. After the date with the guy, she walked home from the bus stop, just to burn a bit more calories. Kudos babe!

Some one else told me about how people in her office knowingly taunt her with food. They know shes trying to lose weight , yet they try to convince her to eat some cake. Someone else spoke about her hubby and how he doesn't believe she can lose the weight, takes her out and asks her to forget the weight loss and eat food he says; "we know you will still go back to the things you love". Lmao!!  I know a lot of people experience things like these, but here are some tips to overcome them;

  1. When you wake up daily, ask God for the grace to resist bad food and to help keep your eyes on your goal.
  2. The kind of friends you keep at this time will determine how far you will go. If you keep friends that love to have a cup of ice cream each time after lunch, trust me one day you will succumb and have one too. If you stay close to friends that don't really care for your achievements then i guess you know what the results will be like. On the other hand, stay close to people that have the same goals or mind set as you. Friends that understand where you are going or what you need will help you a great deal.  With or without friends, you will still achieve your goals if you put your mind to it. Its your strength that you're going to use not theirs, so don't feel like you cant do without them. 
  3. Again on the friend matter, some friends are over weight, but not yet ready to work on themselves, so guess what? They plan to sabotage your efforts because they need an 'over weight' partner. If you lose weight, who will they order junk breakfast with? Who will share in their chocolate shakes? who will go to the plus size section of the mall with them? Who will be on the bread queue with them? Who will answer 'orobo' with them? Shine ya eyes!!!!! 
  4. I recommend cleaning out your fridge, throw out all manner of junk. If its not good for you, its not good for any family member anyways. Fill the fridge with colorful fruits and veggies. Always have a weeks supply of fruits and veggies. So that you wont have to stumble and backslide during the week. One time i asked a friend to do the above, and she asked me "hian, you mean i should throw out a bowl of ice cream and half of a birthday cake?" Before??..... Lwkm!!
  5. Always have at hand your snacks, even at work snacks are very very important. Nuts, apples, carrots, cucumber can be kept as snacks. 
  6. Have a food plan. Make a time table of your meals for the week. If you start without a plan, its easy to fall of the wagon. Be sue of your next meal, and make sure its within reach, otherwise, at lunch time you will be headed for 'mama iyabo's' oily stew. 
  7. Generally turn a deaf ear to haters and tempters. They will only last a second. When they see how serious you are, they will stop trust me. 
For me, it got so serious that when i go to my friends houses, they don't bother asking if i want a drink, they have seen that i mean bizniz! Lol. I cheat on my own terms and how i want, nobody will make me eat what i don't need. I have my moments when i fall of, but i make up for it with extra workouts and cleansing. Stay strong guys, in a little while, the FAT will die! God bless.

  1. Heheheheheh, this is interesting. Okay I have not had rice for 5days now. That's my biggest break ever. Rice is the constant carb I take everyday, I am overcame the temptation of eating rice even after seeing my colleague with the hot Ghana yummy jollof today. I said Satan get thee behind me. Although, my weight has not shifted on the scale. Miss B

  3. D key word in weight loss is self discipline/ determination. My slang became I WILL PASS. Never dreamt I could go 3 days on fruits alone but I did it n am even tempted to continue for more days. I sure feel fresh within me. I never let food control me cos I know my ultimate goal.

    1. Zeebaby, ur right dear. Determination is a key word in weight loss and self discipline is priority. You should be disciplined enough to walk past a table filled with small chops drinks etc because you know you have a goal to reach. Am happy for you nne. Keep it up. Luv u.

  5. My husband is my major source of temptation....imagine frying dodo at night n knowing u shudn't chop one out of it. "Babe fry chicken 4 me nah, cnt we av jollof rice dis evening, has plantain finished, no fried eggs with the bread?????" How do I survive this? So far, av bin coping n trying not to get too tempted (lol! Cos av slipped a couple of times oh!) Asking God for grace n strength cos the month is still far ahead oh!

  6. Cheliz dear,i have been following your blog for a while now. Am so proud of u and your a great motivation.When i started reading your blog, i started exercising and dropped from 85kg to 79kg.bt thats not my goal i want to drop to 68kg. Can i achieve that in two months before my birthday in august?and i eat well in the sense that i don't eat excess of food,i just take a cube of sugar and exercise each time i take lipton and oats(honey gives me heart burn)so is it possible for me to weigh 68kg cos my height is 5'8 or 174cm.Aunty,i dey wait for your reply abeg and i dont drink any soda at all so help me to achieve my goal with your advice.     1. Hi Gloria, hmmm i am so proud of you and happy to hear this. You have lost 6 kgs!! Yipeee!! Congrats dearie. Please keep it up. But please why do u take a cube of sugar before exercising? Why not try a small apple of a stick of banana or a cup of coffee. Its possible to lose 11 kg in 2 months , that only means that you will work extra extra hard, and eat extra extra lean. I will advise you shift your goal back to 5kg before your birthday, i am sure you will look fabulous still. You are a tall babe, so 74kg will be fab. If i look good at 76kg at a height of 170cm, means you will look hotter! If you give yourself unrealistic goals, you could get depressed if you don't achieve it. So lets leave it at 5kg, then if you do 7kg all well and good. Weight loss for me is a lifestyle change, you have all the time in the world to keep working on yourself to look and feel better.
