# How to # tips

How to make the best of your workouts.

Hi there sweets. Good Morning!!!!!
Every time you wake up and remember that you have to go workout, how do you feel? Weak? Hahaha!..... Or do you get tired just 10 mins into the workout? I totally understand! Ok, here are some tips that should help you through such days:

  1. First of all you need to get enough sleep. When you wake up after a good night's rest, you will have enough energy (ginja) to go through a workout without feeling too tired in the middle.
  2. Eat/Drink something before your workout. Eating a small fruit or drinking a cup of coffee before your workout will give you enough energy to pull through and sweat more. You get to burn more calories. Just wait a few minutes for the food to settle before you start exercising.
  3. Drink water. Not just any water, but cold water. Take a bottle of cold water to the gym, and drink each time you feel thirsty. It will continue to give you energy and keep you hydrated. If you sweat a lot during a workout like me, please drink loads of water through the day.
  4. Breathe. Yes this sounds funny, but its easy to forget to breathe when working out. It makes a lot of difference. Aside from having built endurance in the past, how do you think long distance runners are able to run for hours without getting tired? It because they breathe. Fill up your lungs each time you get tired and see how you keep going.
  5. Workout to music you love. If you like hip hop, rap, naija hits, blues, yes blues. Use them to keep you going. If you  are working out at home, change the music as you like, use hip hop or naija music for your cardio and switch to blues for your floor exercises and weight lifting. I enjoy it. I can workout for 2 hrs straight when i play music i love. Get someone to help you compile a fun playlist. Hint: I adjust the speed of my playlist to play faster. I love it!!
  6. Workout at your preferred time of day. If your not a morning person, then make sure you utilize your afternoons or evenings really well.  Just make sure your do something at least.
  7. Use workout dvds that you love, or the ones that are fast paced. They will keep you motivated and before you know it, you are sweaty!
  8. Wear comfortable clothes. This should be number one on this list. Comfortable sports wear, will keep you going for long. Go for colors and fabrics that you're comfortable with.
  9. Wear good workout shoes. Balance is key.
With all these in mind there should be a bit of difference in your daily routine, I really hope it gets you working out for longer and sweating more.

The June weight loss challenge is almost over, this week, you should be working out more and understanding your body more. Keep it up guys and stay strong. God bless.

N.B: Some of the people taking part in the challenge are yet to give update on their journey, not even once, hahahaha! *i laugh in Spanish....

  1. Last week was hard for me. It was that time of the month and I was not feeling exercise, just worked out twice. I was consoling myself that I was at least staying away from rice and flour, but yesterday I slacked, and had a pizza slice and quarter burger. This morning I feel so stuffed and bloated, and exercise is not in the books.I'm not sure why, but t's like I'm losing my zing when the finish line is fast approaching. I've not weighed myself but I've been using my clothes to gauge if I'm loosing and the clothes ain't getting any slacker like it did the first two weeks:( Lord lift me up.

    1. Hi Kate. How long is your workout in general? Do u mean 15 mins in total? 15 mins is cool but u r no longer a beginner so u shud increase time to 45mins by now. That way, you get to burn more calories and see a difference. Early morning workouts are good, try and drink something next time before u start so that you can do more.

    1. Those are good, its not really about how heavy they are, consistency is key. See if you can buy real dumbbells for more comfort. Try 2kg. Thanks and take care dear. Keep it up!!!

    1. Thanks a bunch Glow darling. I'm blushing already. Hehe! My dear I love what I do, it gives me joy and you guys give me a reason to do this daily. I am very grateful dear, God bless you. So to your question. Yes, some of these healthy foods are expensive. But wait, you get to eat icecream and pizza and coke and pastries as a student right? So why cant u get oranges and apples and veggies that are very very very very very cheap errwhere in naija? Hahahaha! I don catch am!!! My dear, its all on the mind, you are ready when you are, forget about what your friends will say, for now eat what you can afford that you know is healthy for you. I love egusi too, I dont make mine with plenty palm oil and I dont eat more that 2 table spoons of it in a meal. Egusi on its own is loaded with calories, not to talk of the palm oil we add to make matters worse. A standard plate of egusi could be up to 800 calories. *scary sometin* Omo! you gats decipline yourself to lose weight o. No be beans. Take care luv and God bless you.

  8. Hi glow,I'm a student too.1k worth of veggies lasts me for 2 weeks. I use them to fill up my plate . I have a kitchen scale and a food journal too. Those hv been of immense help to me. I can't work out for more than 10 mins on my own so I go for a 1hr am workout class before my class by 8am. I manage stress better than when I wasn't working out and clean eating. Thanks a lot 4 cheliz, your posts help me a lot .#berry
