Portion control.

The best asset that anyone who wants to lose weight must possess is discipline. One must be disciplined enough to downsize. By downsize, i mean cutting down on food size. The quantity of food that one eats is really the cause of weight gain. Its even worse if one eats processed foods that are loaded with sugars and salt and all manner of preservatives that are bad for the body.

Its not easy, though but its very doable to reduce the amount of any kind of food that we eat. I had and i still have issues with this at times, especially when it comes to the kind of food that i love. There are some tricks that i use to check myself to make sure that i don't over eat. Eg:

  1. Smaller plates/bowls: i have written about this before i think. This really works for me guys, i use little bowls like soup bowls for most of my food and i use a fork to eat most of my meals. Why i use a fork is so i can carry little food at a time which takes longer to finish a small meal. By the time i'm done with the food, my tummy is about filled up, then i drink a bottle of 75cl of water, then 1 more afterwards.
    This strategy has been working and still works for me. No matter the food i'm having, i pack it up in a bowl. If its rice and stew, i mix it up in a pan, then pour it into my bowl, so i don't have to struggle with mixing it. u get?
  2. Palm size: I posted something on this yesterday, no matter the food item on your plate, it shouldn't be bigger than the size of your fist or palm. Gbam! 
  3. Don't skip meals: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, this is not cliche, it is a fact! If you want to lose weight, please start eating breakfast, even if its just a cup of green tea and some crackers, its something, and your body needs it, its your fuel/starter for a great day. Take this example;  its 10am in the office, look around for the guy that looks tired and grumpy, i bet you he's yet to have breakfast! Hehehe!!
  4. Weigh your food: This i agree is a bit of work especially for people that are always on the go or are always very busy. Its very important. Studies have shown that those that weigh and eat the exact amount of food they need per day, get to shed more weight. Kitchen scales are sold in many shops around, if you can, please try and get one.
    On the days when you have the time, you can weigh, divide and store your meals for the week. You can take out time to do this on Saturdays or on Sunday evenings.
Discipline and even a bit of commitment will take us a long way sweets, long enough to reach our goals i pray in Jesus name. It is well. I wish you guys all the best. God bless.

    1. Hahahaha! Cant stop laughing. The whole essence of weighing ones food is to count calories. This helps to keep tabs on the daily calorie intake.

    1. Hi dear, thanks for the luv. Hmm wud you rather keep ur clothes and and remain overweight, or be slim and sexy with a new wardrobe? Lol. I think not. I patched up some ofbmy clothes that I cud and gave out a whole lot. Almost 3 boxes. I dont even regret it one bit. I am loving my new size. I know you wont regret it either, so get ready for a new you and a new set of clothes darling!

  4. I need help cus i also need to loose weight fast, my hubby jokingly tells me he doesn't want pple asking him who the fat madam behind him is. Lol
    Pls help me, am not a fan of exercise cus anytime I do I fall sick..so please help me with diets i can do.
    And how good is water detox
    I did mine with
    Cucumbers
    Lemon
    Lime
    Grape
    Scent leaves, I didn't feel hungry wen I took it and had my first meal around 5pm.
    How good is eko?

    1. Hi Janye. Lol @ ur hubby's statement. Don't worry luv keep working hard, by dec u'll be like a brand new bride. The diet ur doing is good, its like a detox. I like as u eat something solid later on in the day. But pls dont do this for more than a week. After a week, just eat what u would on a good day, but in smaller portions and get fruits that u can munch thru the day especially when u feel peckish. Also I would say u shud do only lemons and keave out lime and grapes, they can be a bit harsh. Bring in grapes again into ur diet when u have started on solid foods. U get? Pawpaw, avocado, watermelon, cucumber, oranges, apples, are good for u now. Carry go luv. Take care.

  6. Hi Cheliz, I'm fasting right now and breaking my fast with carrots. I eat about 4 or 5 with stew or vegetable sauce and drink lots of water before going to bed. No workouts. I've done this for about 1 week now and gone from 90kg to 87kg. I want to incorporate workouts but don't know which I can do without getting too tired. Do you think I should incorporate other foods? Thanks.

    1. Hey Ladi dear, how r u? I think You are eating too little food. Why not try something like 2 carrots and a cup of milk or water as u break your fast, then 30 mins later have some yam and stew with veggies by the side and or a piece of fish or chicken. Then before u lay down to sleep lets say arnd 9 or 10pm u can take a cup of any caffeine free tea of your choice, just to help ur body relax. Because let me guess, you are going for 20hrs without food right? (If ur doing 6am to 3pm fast) so you need to feed your body so you dont get weak. As for exercise, u can just wait till u end the fast, or you skip 500 skips 30mins to the end of your fast so that you can have some water and eat immediately. U get? Pls Let me know what you think dear. Take care.

  7. Hi Cheliz, I've been fasting for about a week now and breaking with About 4 or 5 carrots with stew or vegetable sauce. Trying to substitute it for white rice and pounded yam. I'm also drinking lots of water before going to bed. I have lost 3kg now but I want to lose faster than that. I want to incorporate workouts but don't know which I can do without getting too tired since I'm fasting. Also, do you think I should incorporate other foods apart from carrots? Still have 2 weeks to fast. Thanks.

    1. Ladi pounded yam is a no-no. Eat boiled pieces of yam instead, that way you can tell the quantity of yam ur consuming. One fist of pounded yam could contain up to 5 pieces of yam, meanwhile you can have 2 pieces with some veggies and be full. U feel me? Lol. And yes incorporate other foods and nuts so you can have a balanced diet always.
