Fitness tips for busy people.

I know that as a very busy person, it's very difficult to get your daily dose of exercise, talk more of shedding excess weight. To make matters worse, you are not getting enough sleep, you are not eating the right meals due to lack of healthy choices, stress is making you gain weight ( yes, stress is a major cause of weight gain aside of over eating.) I've been there, I used to work a 9-5 job, which was really an 8-9 job, and in Lagos this means that i must wake up by 5am, be at the office by 6.30am, I then take a small nap and wake up at 7.15am, brush my hair, wear my makeup and be At my desk before 8am! Chai! After work, I leave at 6pm, spend 3hrs on the 3rd mainland bridge then get home at 9pm. Now I am definitely tired and Hungry (with a capital 'H') this life na wa o! A lot of my friends have been complaining that they don't have time to do any exercise, yes I believe you but, you know if you set your heart and mind to something, even hurricane Katrina can't stop you from reaching your goal. So I put together some tips that I feel could help....

1. Instead of getting home and dashing to the tv, only for you to tune to "the food network" (yes, I'm guilty of that too. Lol) why not try and iron your work clothes for the next day or clean up your kitchen, or wash your bath room, tidy up your bedroom or even wash a few dirty clothes. These things might look like nothing, but you'll be surprised how much calories you burn doing them.
2. Look for a convinient gym close to home, or better still get a workout DVD and do some home workout, even 15 mins is something.

3. Do what you enjoy, if you love to dance, put on some music and dance away. I know someone that takes walks every day afer work, even as late as 10pm.Take a cold bath afterwards.
4. Find a gym buddy or friend you can rely on to motivate and drag you along. Trust me it helps.
5. Make the most of your weekends, try and get in as much exercise as you can on Saturdays and maybe Sunday evenings, depending on how active you were all week.  Make up for lost times.
6. Set realistic goals, when I say realistic, I mean something doable. Like tell yourself, you want to lose 10kg in 3 months, that's realistic and not 10kg in 2 weeks. Lol, so that when you dont reach it, you won't get sad and angry at yourself for nothing.
7. Walk yourself to lunch and back, don't always order in and eat at your desk. (this was my number 1 problem) all the food goes straight to your bumbum, then try and squeeze in some squats during your bathroom breaks. You will be surprised how much calories you burn in a week.

An analysis has shown that people who exercise on workdays are happier and suffer less stress. Be strong dear, it is well, the Lord is your strength. Keep fit and stay healthy. God bless.
